Proverbs around the corner

"Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive tons of shit."

And yet another celebration

So, here we go. Tsagaan Sar. As you are aware, most people are now starting to criticize the way we celebrate Tsagaan Sar. We were complaining from long ago, but this year it seems more people are unhappy with the way it is done. Unfortunately, I do not like this holiday. I understand the foundation of Tsagaan Sar. We have to give respect to our elderly, family, and friends. Maybe, I am too westernized not to value these things enough, but the way we do it, is just ridiculous. We spend millions on food, presents, and outfits. For what? Only to eat and wear for 2-3 days and give pointless gifts? Aren’t we the generation to modernize they it is celebrated? Shouldn’t we put our efforts to make the celebration less distressing economically and socially?

Well, anyways, Happy Holidays to ya all!

Hey, what do people people spend the millions on for Tsagaan Sar? Are there gift exchanges like Christmas? Do people buy special clothes just for the celebration? Just curious, I don't know much about TS, but I haven't heard anyone complain about it either.

Millions of tugriks (Tg) are spent mostly on food, drinks and presents. Gifts are given to anyone who come to one's house. Obviously, the quality and quantity of the gifts will vary depending to whom it's given to. Special traditional clothes are made for Tsagaan sar, and these also cost much. Are you in Mongolia? If you are, I wonder why you have not heard any criticism towards the celebration of Tsagaan Sar?
